BECAS used for wood-CFRP blade design

Researchers at the
Wind Energy Technology Institute(WETI) in Flensburg, Germany, are investigating the potential for increased wood content in large rotor blades.

They use BECAS to evaluate the mass and stiffness properties for their aeroelastic model input parameters, as well as for post-processing the results to determine the strains and stresses in the blade cross sections.
